We're not gatekeeping the craft. The knowledge is free and out in the open, on the podcast, in the tools, on this site. The community is private for a different reason. The interesting conversation (why you picked the lens, the lighting decision that almost broke the day, the back-and-forth with the producer about money, the rig that finally worked, the call you wish you could take back) happens more honestly when it isn't being indexed for engagement.
