Sorted by output — brightest firstExpand a light for output and specs

Each ranked light is read at its recorded output, reduced only by the modifier and diffusion above, then compared to the target at your distance. Ambient is a separate read, never additive fill: the target says whether a fixture exposes, while ambient says whether it separates the subject from the room; it does not change the target or ranking. LED dimming tracks output closely enough to plan from. Tungsten dims smoothly but warm as its CCT drops. Most HMI ballasts stop around 50%; dimming may shift colour or flicker, and targets below that limit are marked unusable. Gels aren't modelled. For verified rows, output figures are based on maker-provided photometrics for the listed optic and mode or colour state. Unverified legacy figures are labelled in their rows. Reflector, Fresnel, and bare-bulb figures aren't directly comparable between fixtures, so treat cross-fixture rankings as a shortlist, not a verdict. Diffusion losses are representative values that differ between actual materials. Bounce and book-light readings are geometry-dependent estimates. Meter on set.
